RAINBOW’S END EMMAUS
COMMUNITY
P.O. BOX 726
ODESSA, TEXAS 79760
Dear Sponsor:
Your pilgrim, ______________________________, has been accepted to
attend______________________,
__________________________! Your sponsorship is very important. Please
refer to the sponsor checklist
to be certain that you have done all that you could to make their walk
successful.
Those opportunities are: to make arrangements for your pilgrim’s
transportation, prepare food and participate in the welcoming feast, attend send
off and sponsor’s hour, attend candlelight, attend closing, gather agape
letters, and be available to your pilgrim’s family as the need arises during the
walk. The sponsor’s checklist explains in detail these opportunities of service
to your pilgrim. For your convenience a map has been provided at the bottom of
this page!
Please keep in mind that as a responsible sponsor, you should, as an act
of agape, be sure to personally invite them to the first Emmaus Community
meeting after the walk, and if possible take them to the meeting with you.
Thanks for your prayerful sponsorship!
De Colores!

Sponsor's
Checklist
1. Pray, Pray, Pray
2. Make arrangements for your Pilgrim to arrive at Circle Six Ranch between
5:45 and 6:00 p.m. on Thursday of the Walk. It is customary for Sponsors to
take their Pilgrim to the Walk as an act of agape.
3.
A Welcoming Feast for Pilgrims, Sponsors and Team
will be in the Tabernacle at 6:00. You are
responsible for providing a dish that will serve you, your Pilgrim and several
others. A good rule of thumb would be to make a good-sized double recipe so
that the Team will also have food. If you are coming from out of town, please
let us know so that we can help you. If you will arrive later than 6:30, be
sure to feed your Pilgrim on the way. Please be available after Sponsor’s hour
to help with cleanup of the welcome feast.
4.
IMPORTANT: To be in accordance
with International Emmaus guidelines,
please do not bring children or anyone
who has not attended an Emmaus, Chrysalis or Cursillo weekend to
any of the weekend events. This
helps to maintain the significance of each event for those who may attend in the
future as well as for those present. NO
childcare is provided for any event.
5. Send off and Sponsors' Hour is Thursday evening at 7:00 p.m. or
after the meal. At this time your Pilgrim's cross will be dedicated along with
the other crosses. If it is not possible for you to attend Sponsor's Hour,
please make arrangements to pray for YOUR Pilgrim.
6. Candlelight is on Saturday evening at 8:30 p.m. in the
Tabernacle. Please plan to arrive NO
earlier than 7:45 p.m. Watch for someone to direct you as you enter the ranch.
Please do not go to the Pilgrims' rooms. If you have something that your
Pilgrim needs, ask either a Team member or an Outside Servant to help you since
the Pilgrims' rooms will be locked.
7. Closing will be Sunday 4:30 p.m. in the Tabernacle. Please
arrive no earlier than 3:30 p.m. If you cannot attend closing, please make
arrangements for your Pilgrim to be taken home.
8. As a Sponsor you will be
assigned a slot on the 72 Hour Prayer Vigil.
Someone will contact you about your time slot. Please tell that person if you'd
like to have more than one time slot. You are welcome (and encouraged) to come
to the camp and pray for the Pilgrims, the Team and the Walk. Come to the
Prayer Chapel but be sure to make no contact with the Pilgrims.
9.
Agape letters - You will need to ask
family and friends of your Pilgrim to write agape letters. Please,
please read the Agape guidelines on the website
www.rainbowsendemmaus.com. When you go to the website, wait
for a minute and the main menu will appear. Then click first on Applications
and then on Agape Letter Guideline. It will tell you why there's a limit of 12
letters that will go in the agape sacks (other letters may be given to them
after the Walk), how to gather the letters and prioritize them into the 12 and
you will find a sample letter to assist you with wording. If you do not have
Internet access, please ask someone to download the information for you
or call us. Bring the collected letters with you on either Thursday or Saturday
night.
10. While your Pilgrim is at the
Walk to Emmaus, you may become a
provider for the family. Please make yourself available to the Pilgrim's family
for fellowship, emergencies and especially spiritual support.
